Guatemala is also a fairly small country (but three times as big as New Zealand).

We plan to settle in on a coffee plantation near Antigua for a couple of days, hiking and birding (some snoozing by the pool). Then head through the highlands to Coban to see the Mayans culture of today before going on to Tikal, for the Mayan ruins (and some more birding and some more snoozing by the pool). We will head by to Guatemala City via the east coast with a quick side trip into Nicaragua and the Mayan ruins at Copan.
